Jammu, March 12 (Scoop News) -The Chairman, State Bank of India (SBI) O P Bhat in Jammu today while addressing a gathering consisting of the first batch of trainers of the Rural Self Employment Training Institute, senior officials of the government, RBI, NABARD and general public,said that SBI is deeply committed to the well being of the people of J&K state in general and rural unemployed youth, in particular, that is why this institute has been set up to train the unemployed youth desirous of starting their own small ventures.
Earlier OP Bhat inaugurated the first Rural Self Employment Training Institute in J&K state at Ban Talab, in Jammu.
Chairman of SBI further said that as a step toward bridging rural-urban gap, SBI in collaboration with government Jammu and Kashmir and Government of India have decided to set up R-SETIs in 10 out of 22 districts of the state over a period of three years.
During current financial year, we are starting 2 R-SETIs, when cover four districts viz Samba, Jammu, Reasi and Udhampur. In these centres, SBI will train unemployed youth mostly from BPL families. They will be provided trainings for various vocations, which can be started with small investments to provide products and services needed in the nearby areas. The entire cost of training shall be borne by Bank.
He extended thanks for the whole hearted support extended by government of Jammu and Kashmir including district administration of Samba, Jammu, Reasi and Udhampur districts at various levels which enabled SBI to set up R-SETIs in a rather short time.
Mr Bhatt said that he has set a vision for SBI R-SETIs to become the centres of Excellence. He also assured Bank’s commitment to bring in more and more technology adoption in banking in state. SBI has already setup 102 ATMs, have provided Internet Banking to around 20,000 customers. Bank is also pushing up Mobile Banking in a big-way.
