Jammu, April 25 (Scoop News)- BJP extends support to the agitation of J&K High Court Bar Association. This was announced by BJP Senior leader & National Co-Convenor Kashmir Cell Chander Mohan Sharma (Adv.) while addressing a media persons at party headquarters.
Chander Mohan Sharma said that Jammu Bar Association has always championed the cause of common people and also the cause of national interests. The lawyers agitation has entered fifth day but the administration and police high ups `have made it false prestige issues not to take action against erring police personnel, which has added to the miseries and sufferings of the common litigants.
The present agitation of the lawyers is not for their cause only but the common people also feel harassed and humiliated by police men every now and then. This is being reported every day that innocent citizens, particularly female motor bikers are being harassed at nakkas and other places. The harassment of common people by the police has become order of the day, said Sharma.
Chander further said that assault on Harshvardhan (Adv.) in the public and also his illegal confinement in police station, Gandhi Nagar, is a glaring example of police highhandedness of an officer of the court i.e. a lawyer is treated in such shabby manner, the plight of common man can be well understood after occurrence of such an incident.
Chander said that the BJP is not against any person in administration nor it is favouring any organization but it stands for rule of law and justice to every citizen. He said that the party emphasizes upon administration not to make such cases as prestige issues and resolve the same immediately in the interest of the common people.
BJP State Secretary S. Charanjit Singh Khalsa and State Press Secretary Balbir Ram Rattan were also present in the press conference.
