Meat consumption around the globe keeps increasing each and every year and has actually doubled in the last two decades which has boost the global meat industry. A survey conducted in January 2016 by the GlobalMeatNews showed a marginal increase in trading relationship, employment, product development, environmental management and acquisitions among other things as compared to previous years. The response which was collated from 384 meat industry professionals showed:
- About 65% of the professionals were prepared to take advantage of this year’s production.
- On environmental management, about 72% of the respondents noted that their companies have a well- structured program in dealing with waste management.
- Companies were also ready to invest much into new product development in the year under review.
- Animal welfare regulations had 77% respondents requesting for a better and increased regulations by industries.
- On the health of animal before been slaughtered and proceeds, about 51% of respondents showed much concern on diseases such as the African swine fever, avian influenza and PEDv among other diseases.
Meat processing supplies around the globe have shot up despite the adverse effects it has on health, environment and climate. Statistics shows that pork is mostly consumed, followed by poultry, beef, and mutton. The supply density is much in Europe, America, and Asia as compared to Africa which per capita income is very low as compared to other continents.
As demand for poultry product also increases, it has become the second fastest growing meat sector as compared to previous years and it is supposed to reach a higher level in the second half of 2016. A forecast of 59.0 million tons and more is expected to The meat processing supplies from the United States, India and Brazil is going to increase which will adversely affect that of Russia, Argentina, and Australia. Australia’s decline in production is related to the extended liquidation periods as producers rebuild herds. 9.6 million tons which are one percent higher than the previous year is forecast due to the balance in the growth of demand by Asia and other regions.

How port is expected to decline 1 percent to 109.3 million tons while that of poultry is expected to go up by 89.7 million which is one percent higher than previous years. The consumption rate stands at 57,078 million tons of beef which are 1.1 percent high, 108,908 million tons for pork which is a decrease of 0.9% compared to last year and poultry is expected at 253,683 million tons which are 0.2% increase over last year.
As global meat industry expands, it is also expected that meat processing equipment demand will also be on the rise. The demand for processed foods is necessitated by the increase in population. Demand for meat processing equipment is expected to expand and growth at a rate of 7.3 percent annually till 2018. So it is expected that in 2016 demands for meat processing like filling and smoking, dicing machine, cutters and grinding equipment etc are also expected to be in high demand. Other meat processing equipment like the mincer is currently on a very high demand.
Despite the health risk associated with processed meat, demand for it is on the high and it is expected to increase by 14.3 percent by 2018 which at the end will bring the processed meat market which was $361.6 billion in 2012 to a total of $799 billion in five years’ time. In 2016 the market growth is expected at 57.3 increase of that of 2012s.
As demand for processed food increased, automatically the demand for industrial mincer will also go up. The use of industrial mincer of the grinder is to break the component of the meat. Annually, demand for meat mincers increase globally and 2016 is not an exception. The market is dependent on demand and supply.
The supply rate from 2014 and 2015 has been on high and it is expected that 2016 will have a greater share. Though there are no specifics as to how the demand is been driven and amount sold, it is generally forecasted that as the demand for processed foods is on the increase due to increase in population and other factors, mincer which is used in processing these meats can’t be left out. The demand for food packaging supplies has reached a record high and it is expected to increase more.
The opening of new restaurants and food joints has also come with a high demand for food packaging supplies. The supply of food service papers is forecast to increase at a rate of 1.4 percent throughout 2016. Global food packaging market is expected to increase by an average 5.6% in 2016 and beyond annually up to 2020. This is supposed to rack in an amount of 14.01 billion in revenue within the time frame. Packaging materials for meat, poultry and others are also expected to increase at a rate of 5.23% annually from 2016 to 2020 which may even exceed due to the high demand each year.
