Ramban, December 25, (Scoop News)- One day state level Urdu Conference cum Mushaira was organised by the Tehreek Baqa-e-Urdu(TBEU) under the supervision of Khurshid Ahmed Tantray, President, TBEU, Pirpanchal in collaboration with the Department of Information(DOI) at Ramban today.
On the occasion Aiyaz Rasool Nazki was the chief guest and the District Development Commissioner,(DDC),Ramban, Farooq Ahmed Shah Bukhari presided over the proceedings while as Manshoor Banihali and Rehmatullah Runyal were the guest of honour.
The conference began with the presentation of a detailed account of the annual achievement of the TBEQ in the state and outside the state.
Dr.Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, Prof.Mohi-ud-Din Zor,Nusrat Malik, Rehmatullah Runyal, Manshoor Banihali and Aftab Manhas were among the prominent Urdu writers who spoke on the conference topic-Ikkeesvin Sadiee in Urdu Ke Masayil wherein the speakers dwelt on the challenges being faced by Urdu vis-a-vis the rise of English in India.
On the occasion a book,Nakad-e-Safar written by Aftab Ahmed Aftab Banihali and an Urdu Calendar 2015 were also released .It was followed by a unanimous resolution for the creation of a separate ministry for the promotion of Urdu in J&K.
Later, a Mushaira organised by Department of Information was presided over by Sageer Mirza ,Zulfiqar Naqvi, Prof. Shehjehan Aftab, District Information Officer,(DIO),Ramban, Tanveer-ul-Majid.
Rafi Ahmed Parray, Mohd. Ashraf Gohar, Imtiaz Ahmed Bhallesvi, Shabir Hussain Shabir,Hukam Chand Sehgal, Nadeem Mahi, Bahar Ahmed Bahar,Sahil Masrat, M.Shafi Jeral, Prof. Shehjehan Aftab, Dr.Khalid Rasool, the moderator Abdul Khaliq Ganai and Zilfiqar Naqvi recited their Ashair(Sher)or Urdu couplets.
Ishrat Kashmiri was posthumously conferred with Mulkhraj Saraf Award, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Nawab Din Kasana with the Shaan-e-Urdu and Hamdi Kashmiri the Maharaja Pratap Singh Awards for their distinguished contribution in the promotion of Urdu.
In his presidential address, Bukhari exhorted the citizens of the state to teach Urdu language to their children in addition to other languages and exhorted that the language should be promoted through use in their day to day conversations, working and writing notes etc.
Ten students from Banihal were awarded with medals and certificates for their meritorious performance in an Urdu essay competition held at Banihal on June 29 this year. Their teachers were also felicitated on the occasion.
On the occasion Dr.Imtiaz Bhallesvi was unanimously nominated as the spokesman of the TBEU.
The conference concluded with the vote of thanks presented by the District Information Officer Tanveer-ul-Majid.
