Steven Rattner was a high-ranking equity director with Credit Suisse in New York until he resigned last week. The reason for his resignation is because he has been lambasted over the internet for the past two months by a man whose wife Rattner had an affair with five years ago.
Kelly Cosgrove is a Londoner who was married to Tommii Cosgrove when she became romantically involved with Steven Rattner five years ago. Ratter is also married and has since cut off his affair with Cosgrove, confessed to his wife and began rebuilding his relationship with her and building his professional career.
Two months ago, Tommii Cosgrove, now divorced from Kelly Cosgrove, began an internet campaign to, in a word, ruin Steven Rattner’s life. Tommii Cosgrove has accused Rattner of trying to steal his wife from him in postings on a number of websites, emails to Rattner’s associates and clients and emails to reporters. He says Rattner took Kelly Cosgrove on exotic vacations, bought her expensive gifts and paid her to leave her husband for him. Rattner says that Tommii Cosgrove has even made threats on his life. “I had to put my life back together again. He destroyed everything I had. And I had to find him," Cosgrove says.
Steven Rattner has nowhere to turn. He even offered to pay Cosgrove $70,000 to stop his smear campaign to no avail. He says that Cosgrove has been successful in ruining his life; his name is all over the Internet, he resigned his job and his family has been embarrassed. By using the power of the Internet, Tommii Cosgrove made Steven Rattner pay for having an affair with his ex-wife. Seeing as this Internet vendetta began five years after he found out about the affiar, it seems like Tommii Cosgrove wants to get back at Kelly Cosgrove as much as he wants to hurt Steven Rattner.
