Leh ,December 30, (Scoop News)-Leh Police recovered a female body in a field at Saspol village. The body was later identified as a 40 years old Tashi Yangzes wife of Lobzang Zotpa resident of Saspol. The body was sent to SNM Hospital Leh for post mortem.
Meanwhile Officals in Leh told Scoop News that in a tragic incident a mother of two children in her early thirties was brutally killed and eaten up by dogs beyond her identification in Saspol village on Monday .
He said that as reported by the Tehsildar Saspol the deceased has been identified as Tashi Yangzes, wife of Lobzang Zotpa, resident of Saspol through her mobile phone which was found with the dead body. SDM, Khaltsi in a message to DC, Leh has highlighted the difficulties face by public due to dog menace everywhere and urged him to issue necessary instruction to Animal Husbandry and Medical Deptt to control the dog menace in the area by taking immediate steps. Otherwise, there is every apprehension of further killings in the area, he added.
A team comprising EC, Health and EC, CA&PD, Councilor Saspol, Councilor Khaltsi, SDM, Khaltsi, Administer, MC, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, CMO, LBA Vice President, Tehsildar Saspol along with two teams of dog catcher today visited the spot of killing in Saspol. A brief meeting was held thereafter in which Shafi Lasu instructed AHD and MC to ensure getting hold of the dogs at the earliest possible to reduce the fear among the villagers. He immediately called up SP, Leh to send a police team immediately to Saspol to keep a vigil on such incidents in the village and to give a sense of security among the villagers. The SDM, Khaltsi was also directed to issue a notice to NHPC, Grief and Army not to let dogs breed within their building premise and to cooperate with the govt. in catching the feral dogs.
Responding to the demand of Councilor Saspol to shift the Grief base from th village to their new assigned land, Shafi Lasu committed to take up the issue with the official head of Grief and solve the matter as soon as possible. EC, Health, Dr. Angchok directed CMO, Leh to deliver anti-rabis vaccines and medicines to the primary health centers of Saspol and Khaltsi immediately to handle such cases without delay. He also made the medical staffs at Saspol and Khaltsi aware about dog attacks and their medication.
The ECs and the team also visited the deceased family and expressed condolences and sorrow on the unfortunate and unprecedented death of their loved one. Shafi Lasu announced ex-gratia of Rs. 25,000 to the family from Council and assured to extend further support. The villagers were also told to stay alert and cautious while moving out alone, especially children and insured to take every possible step to get rid of the dog menace in the village.
The team later also visited Alchi village and interacting with the villagers they urged them too remain alert and careful of these feral dogs who could possibly run towards Alchi. Tsetan Namgial, Councilor Khaltsi said that the matter of dog menace has been raised time and again by council but even the common people needs to cooperate in tackling this issue at community level as govt. is tied up by all kinds of legalities. “This has been fourth or fifth incident of dogs taking human life and it is a matter of great concern which calls for urgent steps to be taken,” he added.
