Srinagar, April 24, (Scoop News)- Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and former deputy chief minister, Muzzafar Hussain Baig has said the strong wave in favor of PDP all across the North Kashmir is enough to suggest that Jammu & Kashmir is heading for better times and the days of National Conference’s deceitful politics are over.
Winding up his two days campaign visit of Karnah segment of Baramulla parliamentary constituency Baig said it is heartening to note that the people have now understood the NC’s exploitative politics which has cost the state dearly over the last 60 years. He said earlier though there was no alterative available to the NC which has resulted in its complete dominance and it is now after the emergence of the PDP in the political landscape of the state people have tasted real democracy.
On this occasion senior leader Raja Manzoor, Qari Irshad, Javaid Mirchal and several others were also present.
Baig said there is a strong mood prevailing on the ground in favor of the PDP and people are now fed up with the ruling party which has never been serious to address their issues. He said it is only through the conscious use of vote that we can get rid of the NC to pave way for a responsible system in the state and sincere leadership at the national level. “People are aware enough this time about the importance of vote as they think it is the only weapon to change the destiny of Jammu & Kashmir and resolve its issues, “ Baig added.
He said the PDP is going to the parliament to represent the people of Kashmir and their aspirations, sentiments unlike the National Conference which has always used people’s mandate to secure power for the members of Abdullah family and in return got disgrace, insult to state and to the people whom they claim representing.
He said the people had trusted the NC leadership with the aim it may work to safe guard their interests and resolve their issue but that doesn’t happen as the power games kept NC blind to look, think beyond. “The basic reason of NC is downfall is its lust for power both in an outside the state and that is why it has lost its faith among the people now,” Baig said.
He said after selling the power and other resources, bringing huge destruction, deaths, institutionalizing corruption and splashing innocent blood in the state the NC leadership has stooped too low in their discourse that they have now started abusing their opponents instead of coming out with solid arguments to defend themselves.
Baig said the PDP during its brief tenure in the government made every effort to smoothen the relations between India and Pakistan and it was the result of the party’s work that the historical ceasefire was realized on the borders that provided the people immense relief. But, unfortunately, that everything got derailed with the change of government in the state and the people living on the borders feel that those initiatives taken by the PDP should have been continued. “Our goal is not just to form the govt but our mission is to liberate the state from the post-independence siege that has imprisoned it,” Baig said and added that we would revive that process so that all traditional routes are opened which will generate huge economic activities in the areas like Karnah.
