Srinagar, July 19, (Scoop News)-National Conference has in the strongest of terms condemned violence and disruption of peace and harmony by certain mischievous elements at Baltal on the Amarnath Yatra route. In a joint statement, Senior NC Leader and Minister for Forests, Mian Altaf Ahmed and NC Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani have condemned the provocative behavior by mischievous elements and have appealed for the maintenance of peace and calm. The NC leaders have also asked the administration to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the Yatris and the conduct of the Yatra is unhindered and smooth.
NC Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani has said that the conflagration at Baltal due to clashes between two groups was the handiwork of mischievous elements who had tried hard to damage the spirit of peace, cooperation and mutual harmony that is the hallmark of the Yatra in how locals play a commendable role in the conduct of the annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave. “For decades the Yatra has been a symbol of mutual harmony and has been a testimony of the hospitality of Kashmiri men and women and there has never been and will never be a deviation from this tradition”, Nasir said.
Senior NC Leader and Minister for Forests Mian Altaf Ahmed has appealed for peace and calm in the area and has appreciated the effective response of the administration in ensuring that the situation is put under control without wasting precious time. “The situation has been brought under control and the Yatra has resumed after a brief halt. The situation has returned to normal in Baltal and around 3,000 pilgrims have started the trek towards the Holy Cave at 10 am today from Baltal base camp. This is due to the commendable efforts of the administration. We appeal that calm is maintained in the highest spirits of mutual harmony and peace that is merited by the sanctity of the holy pilgrimage”, Mian Altaf said.
