Jammu& Kashmir: Special Tourist Taxi Association (STTA), election concluded without holding it. As per the election scheduled nomination was to be filed on 18.10. 2012 till 3 pm. On 19th nominations could be withdrawn. Only two applications were received for the posts of vice president and general secretary which were withdrawn today before 3 pm.
Leaving no contestant in fray, the elections were declared in favour of existing team headed by STTA president Inderjit Sharma, Vice president Raj Singh, Secretary B L Sodhi and Cashier Arun Kumar
It is important to mention that in the general meeting after threadbare discussion and insistence of members it was unanimously declared to enhance the term from two years to three years.
Speaking on the occasion, 12th time elected president Inderjit Sharma said that he is committed along with his team to make efforts in solving the issues being faced by the taxi operators. He said that taxi operators are constituents of huge vote bank and well disciplined community believing to earn livelihood by executing pure and honest professionalism.
He congratulated his team for getting elected unopposed and advised them to work for the upliftment of driver community. On the occasion he also extended Navratra greeting to all.
