Inderjit registers 11th victory as President
Special Tourist Taxi Association
(STTA), TRC, Jammu elections were held after two years here today. Voting
started in the morning at 10 am and ended at 4:30 pm. Counting started at 5 pm
and ended at 6 pm with declaration of results. Counting took place in presence
of city magistrate, DSP and all category contestants.
Elections for the posts of
president, vice-president, secretary and cashier are being conducted after
every two years as per their constitution. Inderjit secured 110 votes out of
total 127 against his rival Dharampal, who secured 16, votes only. In
vice-president category Raj Singh defeated his rival Rajesh Chand by 104 to 21;
secretary Bansi Lal Sodhi won over Saqib Iqbal with 106 to 17 votes and in the category
of cashier Ranjit Singh won by securing 106 and his rival D. K Shastri got only
20 votes.
Elections were held peacefully under
the supervision of police. Superintendent of police J. S Johar, DSP S Samyal,
SHO K. D Bhagat, Incharge Police Post Residency Road S. P S Samyal were also on
the guard for the whole day of electioneering process day.
Thanking police, members of the
association and others who participated in election process and helped in
making the procedure in peaceful manner, 11th time elected
president, Inderjit Sharma said that he will continue his fight against
injustices made with his fellow members of association by bringing the the
pertaining issues to fore for early addressing by the government of the day.
Sharma on the occasion expressed
gratitude to his supporters from airport, railway and Vaishnavidam for their
support. He also urged upon the rival group to follow the rules set by association
to make the system to progress in the larger interest of members of the association
and in public particularly.
