New Delhi, July 25 (Scoop News)-JD Institute of Fashion Technology, a renowned Fashion and Design Institute with a nationwide acclaim recently organized Annual Design Awards in its Silver Jubilee year at Siri Fort Auditorium which provided a platform to the student designers from the fashion, jewellery and interior design departments to showcase their innovative skills. The theme “Unfollow 2013” was not to encourage students to revolt or go against the norms but to bring out their unconventional side into their designs.
The event witnessed the presence of eminent personalities like Rohit Bal (Fashion Designer), Anju Modi (Designer), David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore (Designers, Label-Abraham and Thakore), Manjeet Bhullar (Interior Designer), Lipika Sud (President of The Guild of Designers and Artists), Gaurav Om Chhabra (Designer) among others from the industry.
This three-day annual affair was a festival of creativity which brought together the big-shots of fashion and design fraternity adding on to the glamour of the event and inspired the upcoming generation of designers. JeDiiians from all different centers across India participated in the affair. Among all, students from Jammu also won the awards for incomparable designs and exhibiting their best creative talents. Keeping in mind the theme of the event “UNFOLLOW”, these budding designers presented an extraordinary collection of designs. “Unprofessionals”, “Waste to Waist” and “Meri Marzi” were the three collections from Jammu.
Justifying the theme, the group “Unprofessionals” simply chose to unfollow the conventional and experiment with their designs. “Waste to Waist” followed the motto “Who needs fabric when we have bottle caps, disposable glasses, computer keys, wires, poly packets and buttons”. The idea behind this collection was to use waste and drape on beautiful waists. On the other hand, the theme “Meri Marzi” was an inspiration from bright colours, cut outs and left over cloth pieces and the models turned the clothes inside out.
Jammu is one of the most beautiful parts in the South Asian region, which is full of widely varying people and a rich culture. Thinking beyond the culture and creating the designs, the colours and the look were in perfect match with the attire of the event. In order to inspire the potential designers and give them a prospect to associate with the leaders of the industry, the Annual Awards are organized every year. JD Institute of Fashion Technology focuses on creating the designers of tomorrow and is committed to anticipating and fulfilling the ever-changing requirements of the fashion industry by producing top-notch fashion designers. “The idea behind the theme was to set free the youthful minds and provide them a platform to bring out the best within them. Every year the event provides an excellent opportunity and exposure for the student designers to present their piece of creativity to the fashion fraternity. I am elated to see some serious potential in my students and I am sure they will outshine in the world of fashion and design in the coming future like Rocky S, Falguni & Shane, Reza, Gaurav Chabra, Urvashi Kaur, Maheka Mirpuri, Nitin- Isha, Niket Mishra”” adds RC Dalal, Executive Director, JD Institute of Fashion Technology.
