Success of Omar’s Government in the success of youth

 

Srinagar, October 28 (Scoop News) –Relating the success of his Government in the success of youth, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Thursday said that focused attention was being paid on expanding the orbit of job market for young persons.sn He said the approach of entrepreneurship development and capacity building employed in this direction has started yielding positive results.

            The Chief Minister was giving away sanction letters of seed capital to the newly trained entrepreneurs at Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), Pampore selected under SKEWPY.sn

            Omar Abdullah said that visionary approach initiated under SKEWPY to encourage youth to venture upon economic activities in different potential areas available in the State would go a long way to change the mind set of educated youth regarding selecting Government employment as their first choice.  He said my efforts were to nurture the talent in young persons for undertaking economic activities independently and standing upon their legs as successful and affluentpersons, capable of giving employment to others.

            “My Government would extend every possible help in this regard”, he said adding that the strategy of granting seed money and ensuring hassle free finances from Jammu and Kashmir Bank was already in place. He said the role of EDI was pivotal in this regard and intending persons of launching economic units should feel free to visit EDI, get proper guidance and training to pursue their goals.

            Handing over sanction letters of seed money worth Rs. 2.30 crore to the first lot of as many as 85 young entrepreneurs trained in EDI, the Chief Minister said that these boys and girls were laying foundation for a turn around strategy in the field of employment and job market. “You have a vast field to work and seek betterment and prosperity to your self and to the State”, he said.

            The Chief Minister said that he was happy to note that the young persons have selected diverse activities to venture upon and prayed for their success and welfare. He also expressed the hope that Jammu and Kashmir Bank would continue to play its important role in helping the Government to tackle the unemployment problem, which he listed most important and top most concern of the Government.

            The function was participated by the faculty members and entrepreneurs from Jammu EDI complex through a tele-conference arranged by the EDI.

            The two successful entrepreneurs from the State Irfan Ahmad of Baramulla and Zakir Hussain of Shangus gave PowerPoint presentation of their success stories at the function. They narrated the tale of their successes and asked their brethren to shun the practice of wasting time in seeking Government jobs. “You can instead utilize your capacity and take advantage of SKEWPY through EDI to become successful unit holders, not only earning handsome livelihood for your self but also giving employment to others”, they advised the youth in general and the new entrepreneurs in particular. Both the two have launched projects in floriculture and vegetable cultivation and are successfully running these.

            It was stated that Jammu and Kashmir Bank has sanctioned Rs. 4.60 crores for the 85 trained entrepreneurs who received the sanction letters of seed money today, while as these young persons have also contributed Rs. 40 lakh by themselves. They are starting ventures in electronics, animal and sheep husbandry, mobile repairing and service, copper works, jewelry etc.          

            The Minister for Higher Education and Employment, Abdul Gani Malik in his speech urged the young boys and girls to get best advantage of seed money scheme and easy financing by J&K Bank to take to self employment ventures. “We have made the process more smooth and easy and EDI is the nodal agency to help you out and provide trainings for different trades and industrial activities”.

            Malik said that the Oversees Employment Corporation has been registered with the Union Company Affairs Department and it will start functioning soon.

            The function was also attended by the Advisor to Chief Minister Mubarak Gul, Economic Advisor to Government, Jaleel Ahmad Khan, Chairman, J&K Bank, Mushtaq Ahmad, Commissioner-Secretary Employment, G.A. Peer, Director EDI, M.Y, Parray and other senior officers of the Employment Department besides faculty members of EDI and entrepreneurs.
