A suicide car bomb exploded near an army bus in the Afghan capital Kabul early Thursday, killing a civilian and wounding a handful of people including an army officer, officials and a witness said.
The extremist Taliban movement claimed responsibility for the early morning attack in a residential area near the centre of the city.
The suicide car bomb targeted a bus taking Afghan National Army staff to work but it missed the vehicle, interior ministry spokesman Zemarai Bashary told foreign news agency.
"The ANA vehicle drove away. In a taxi passing by, one civilian was killed," he said, adding that he could not immediately give details about the victim.
At least two people were wounded, including another person in a taxi and a man who had been riding a bicycle directly behind the car bomb, he said.
