Morni hills, a tiny hill station are situated 58 km from Pinjore and 60 km from and Chandigarh. This hill station, lying at an altitude of 4000ft. was originally built for Haryana, which had lost all its hills to Himachal Pradesh on the trifurcation of Punjab in 1966. But the Haryana government realized that it would need more than a crore of rupees to bring enough supply of drinking water to the hill station. And that was the end of a dream.
Chakrarty Lake is a couple of miles beyond Karnal on the road from Delhi. Overlooking it are the `Whistling Teal’ restaurant and a bar, its large bay- windows afford a pleasant view of bougainvillea making a splash of color against the water.
Brahmasar at Kurukshetra is probably the largest tank in India. It is 15ft deep and a quarter mile long. It has a storage capacity of 450 lakh cubic ft. Hindus regard it as one of the holiest of tanks. Built around it is a 37 ft wide Redstone platform. Adjacent to it are a number of prayer cells, congregation halls, shopping centers and car-parks.
