Sun God inaugurated at Suriya temple in “The City of temples” Jammu

 

 

Suriya Narayan (Sun God) inaugurated at Suriya temple Ploura  in Jammu on Sunday. This is the unique temple of its kind in entire North India. The temple consists of three main parts. The first part represents the Sun God riding a chariot pulled by seven horses. In second part there are sculptures of Godess Durga, Lord Ganesh, Kartike, Parvati and Shiv Lings with Nandi and the third part consists of Yagya Shalla. All the three are under the same roof of the temple.

On the occasion a Maha Yagya was also performed. Thousands of people participated at this auspicious occasion of Murti Sathapana of "Surya Narayan".The function was organized by Martand Tirath Trust. The Yagya was performed under the supervision of Pt. Omkar Nath Shastri.After the Puranahuti a seminar and Pradarshani on Suriya Narayan was held which was organised by Bindraban Sher under the banner of the Trust.

Amarnath Vaishnavi president, All State Kashmir Pandit Conference (ASKPC) was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr Agnishekhar, convenor Panun Kashmir was the guest of honour.

 

Martand Rattan Bhushan Awards were presented to five persons for their outstanding achievements.The awardees were Mrs. Suman Pandita, Mrs Sirja Razda, Dr. Maharaj Krishan Bharat, Sh. Maharaj Krishan Santoshi and Dr. Kirit Bushan Sidha. The awards were presented by Mr Vaishnavi. Besides a seminar was also held on Suriya Narayan. The programme started with a Kashmiri Bhajan composed by H K Sidha and presented by Ravi Kachroo and Suman Pandita.

 

The speakers threw light on ancient history of Martand . Hari Krishan Sidha described the Martand Tirath as a doorway to heaven. Martand the birth place of 13th son of Kashap Rishi was the main reason behind the formation of valley of Kashmir, which was in the shape of a lake called Satisar. Dr Bharat described the Martand Tirath a powerful religious place which has been a centre place for all the religious activities since ancient times. M K Santoshi spoke on religious significance of Martand. He mentioned Martand the best place for salvation and emancipation of sinners especially during the Inter Calary month.

 

Dr. Agni Shakher applauded the Trust for their sincere efforts to uplift the society during this hard and critical period of Nirvasan (Displacement). He paid tribute to the high personalities of Martand Tirath who led their lives for the progress and prosperity of all Pandit community. He narrated the story of Sh. Kripa Ram Dutt a resident of Martand who saved the community from the cruelty of the then emperor. He recalled the ancient history of Martand when it was considered as a lighthouse to enlighten the path of progress and prosperity of the community.

Shri Bindraban Sher spoke about odds and evens faced by him to organize Surya Pradershani. He thanked A.K.Sidha president of Martand Tirath Turst for giving him a chance to present Pradershani in attractful manner. Ashok Kumar Sidha the president of the Trust in his speech thanked all the dignitaries, guests and public for participating this programme
