" Surjakund Fair "
Yesterday , 15th Feb-09 , was the conclusive day of fortnight long Surarkund Fair held at surajkund near South Delhi at Faridabad in Haryana,India.The fair was a cultural display of handicrafts of artisans of various Indian provinces.The participation was also contributed by artisans of SAARC nations alongwith Egyptian,Afghan and Thai nationals.To the display and selling were primarily handwoven clothes , wall hangings , paintings , wood-crafts, metalic stautes, pottery , sarees, puppets and all that one could fathom to be a work of handicarft.The collection was fine and left the buyers with an wide array to choose from.Metal Craft of Buddha were very fine but coming with a cost. Fair was primarily thronged by locals and primarily middle or lower middle class segment of society.Foriegn nationals were rarely visibly inspite of widespread publicity of the fair at national level.Security arrangements were water tight and the state attired police perssonel were effective in making the environ have a comfirtable and safe feel; inspite of large crowd turnout.The food stalls there were not up to the mark neither in terms of quality nor in terms of pricing.In toto it was a fine display of Indian Rural Handicrafts.Bye-Bye 2009 SK fair.See you in 2010.
