Surrendering Happiness

Barbara’s Poetry From The Heart Corner

I cannot look back as I walk away
his face lingers in my mind.
Heartache and pain sifts, steals my soul
robs my essence of love forever.

A love never felt before
searched years for the passion
yearned for it since childhood
I’d found a soul mate, lover, friend.

He departs in another direction
neither dared to glace back
knew there’d be no end
he suffers…longs for my warm lips.

Walk away…the hardest thing in life
aware it’s the end
commitments and vows sealed by a gold band
doesn’t make sense how love can sting the bones.

His kindness stole my spirit
kisses singed and quenched my desires.
How could I face tomorrows without him?
I wanted to run right back into his arms.

I surrendered to obstacles blocking our attachment
keep his images…with every ounce of strength
never allow them to be taken away
forget about the life I desired for years.

Cannot look back…too many hearts to break
not right to satisfy my longings to slay others souls.
I close the door to my yearning nucleus
take a deep breath and keep walking…
leave my spirit exposed to a life of hunger.
