Scientists from the Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) have made quite the interesting discovery during their 2,000 mile trip through the ice cold Antarctic waters in the Ross Sea. They have indeed come across a treasure trove of life that marine biologists and wildlife experts would only fantasize about.
In a trip that is set to last 50 days, these scientists have come across and collect 30,000 types of specimens. Still, nothing is really in concrete yet. It is yet to be confirmed if these specimens are either new or not. Regardless, they are quite interesting finds.
Some interesting specimens include jellyfish that have tentacles with a 12-foot reach. While it is an intriguing find, the thought can be considered terrifying to many others. I myself am terrified at the thought of a jellyfish with at least a 4-foot reach let alone a 12-foot reach.
Scientists have even found starfish that have at least a 2-foot radius. These are some gigantic and very freaky finds discovered by these scientists.
One could ask how there are such finds.
Don Robertson, a marine scientist with the NIWA answers by explaining the combination of the water temperature and the lack of predators.
However, this is a very interesting find indeed. At the same time, this is a very creepy and freaky find.
I can imagine Chipp Zanuff from those Guilty Gear games saying his trademark phrase: “Holy Zen!”
If this was Metal Gear Solid 3, I can imagine Snake radioing Paramedic and asking her: “Can you eat it?”
Those who haven’t played either the Guilty Gear or Metal Gear Solid games probably won’t get the joke immediately.
Nevertheless, these scientists have definitely found “treasure.” I myself will never be able to look at seafood let alone sushi again.
