Srinagar November 15( Scoop News)- One of the shining jewels of Kashmir Valley Ms. Kariha Javaid who has participated in various national and international Taekwondo championships through Taekwondo Association of J&K has been selected by Government of India, Ministry of Women & Child Development for National Award for Exceptional Achievements 2013. She won Gold Medal in World Championship held at Malaysia in which three others players also participated and obtained 1 silver medal as well. The Taekwondo Association of J&K in its extra ordinary meeting convened here appreciated the talent and the laurels brought by Ms. Kariha Javaid to the J&K State. She was also called by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar soon after winning the Gold Medal in the said championships.
President, Taekwondo Association of J&K, R.G.N. Wani and General Secretary, Taekwondo Association of J&K, Arshid Aziz, while addressing the meeting expressed great happiness on selection of Ms. Kariha Javaid for such a prestigious national award and hoped that she will continue to bring laurels for the State at both the National and International levels.
The President added that there is no dearth of sports talent in the State. He said that the association shall continue to provide necessary facilities to the players of the state for showcasing their talent both at national and international events. The J&K team while participating in National Taekwondo Championships held at Mumbai recently broke all the national records and achieved the top most position in the said national championship by securing more than 17 gold medals.
R.G. N. Wani also conveyed his best wishes to all children on the Children’s Day, especially the children of J&K State.
