Taliban killed 28 peace committee members

Peshawar: The Taliban militants in the troubled South Waziristan tribal area have killed 28 members of the Peace Committee who belonged to the Betani tribe.

Officials in the Agency have confirmed that the dead bodies of the Members have been recovered from Jandola area.

Officials told that 2 members of the Peace Committee are also missing.

At least 30 members of the Peace Committee were kidnapped by the militants after a clash between the two parties. 12 Committee members were killed in the clash.

An agreement between the militants and the security forces has been failed more than twice and it is believed that an army operation against the militants is imminent. Local sources told media men that the situation is tense now and people are fearful as they have suffered a lot in the past from the clashes between the militants and the security forces.
