Qalat: A local Taliban commander Mulla Mueen was killed last night by his own fighters in the Deh Yak district of Ghazni province, the area where the insurgents abducted 23 South Korean health workers last July.
‘There was a fierce fighting between the militant fighters in which the commander killed’ said Ghazni Police Chief Ali Shah Ahmadzai while talking to this scribe by phone.
The reason of the fighting is so far not known.
In the same province last night, the armed Taliban attacked a tribal elder in the Qarabagh district killing him and injuring his son.
The tribal elder, Azam Khan, was a pro-government strong man of the area. The insurgents had killed another tribal elder in Paktiya province on Saturday morning.
The growing insurgency in the region has continuously target killed pro-government and liberal-minded tribal elders everywhere. Two prominent tribal elders were also killed yesterday in Pakistan’s Bajaur Agency where the militants are now in full control.
