Tamil Nadu Government issued orders for minorities’ quota

In the wake of the announcement of a protest staged by members of the Church of South India (CSI) and a splinter group of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) against non-implementation of 7 % reservation for Muslims and Christians in the state, the Tamil nadu Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi on Friday passed an order to ensure representation of 3.5 % each to both communities in TNPSC Group IV vacancies.

Mr.M.G.Dawood Mia Khan, president of a splinter group of the IUML, Mr.Sampath T.Bagavandoss, secretary of the Madras Diocese and their followers staged a demonstration on Friday evening.

They accused the DMK led Government of betraying minorities by not implementing the 7 % reservation for them despite of having a law passed in September, 2007.

Hours before the agitation, Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi held a consultative meeting with minister Arcot N.Veerasamy and Duraimurugan and senior officials.
