Tang, the popular powder breakfast drink, may not be the healthiest beverage around. Packed with sugar and artificial ingredients, it’s one of America’s most beloved and most unhealthy treats. But now British authorities are revealing it has far more dangerous potential, through an improvised "Tang Bomb" made with common household materials.
Back in 2006 when Muslim extremists were detained for planning a series of plane hijackings and crashes, travelers were quickly forced to leave liquids at home. Now details of the Tang Bomb are emerging. The would-be terrorists planned to mix Tang and hydrogen peroxide in an improvised bomb that used a disponsable camera’s flash to set off the device. Hydrogen peroxide is commonly used for disinfecting wounds.
The Tang Bomb would be powerful enough to blast a crater in the hull of a plane, potentially killing all inside. The detained men had planned to hijack up to six planes.
