Tax payers hard earned money at stake

A Supreme court bench comprising Justices B N Agarwal & Aftab Alam bluntly told UP Government to hold on the construction at all memorial sites as till date state goverment has spent more than MN USD 5400 on construction of statues & monuments of no historical use wasting the hard earned money of tax payers.

The bench cut it short by counter questioning " If a legislature endorses a decision of the government that 80% of the public exchequer be spent on such things, is such a decision not amenable to judicial review".
