Jammu & Kashmir: Jammu Province Tourist Taxi Operators threatened self immolation and rigorous protests from tomorrow, if playing of government bus services from Jammu airport to Katra was not suspended immediately.
Chairman Association, Inderjit Sharma alleged betrayal by airport authorities and state government towards them by not keeping their word even after all their demands were fulfilled. He informed that pre-paid fee, car rental fee and replacing of all cabs by new models were the demands of airport authorities.
Expressing concern about the future of about 350 operators and their families, Sharma said that there is no option other than to go for self immolation or to set ablaze the buses. Demanding immediate intervention of chief minister, Sharma said that not only tourism minister, transport minister and all other ministers from Jammu have been apprised about the issues but also MPs have knowledge about the issue.
He informed that tomorrow a peaceful protest in airport at about 9; 30 will be exhibited which will follow by rigorous continuous protests till the demand of canceling of bus services from airport to Katra is met. Consequences, if any, will be responsibility of the coalition government, he added.
