World TB Day observed at Chitral.

CHITRAL: Like other parts of the country world TB day was commemorated in Chitral by district TB control officer in collaboration with District health officer and relief international. Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Ghaffar was chief guest on the occasion while the ceremony was presided over by Dr. Noorul Islam MS of DHQ Hospital Chitral. The speakers highlighted TB diseases and termed that this is curable disease which can cover within 6 months continue treatment. They said that that combined efforts can eradicate TB disease like polio as Chitral has been polio free district.
Dr. Saad Maluk district TB control officer briefed the stakeholders regarding TB disease and its treatment. He said that there are 8 diagnoses and treatment centers in Chitral where sputum etc test if free of cost and providing free treatment to TB patients. He said that some 3 million people affecting by TB in Pakistan every year.
Dr. Israrullah DHO, Maulana Sher Aziz Ameer Jamat Islami, Dr. Gulzar Ahmad children specialist, Dr Noorul Islam, Dr. Muhammad Tayyab District Program Manager of Relief International, Dr. Muhammad Nazir Manger clinical AKHS Chitral, Abdul Ghaffar additional Deputy commissioner and other spoke on the occasion. The speakers also hailed contribution and services of non government organizations regarding providing health facilities to public. They said that social mobilization campaign is must for eradicating TB and other infectious diseases from Chitral as well as from the country.
Dr. Gulzar said that children and old age people are most vulnerable and can quickly affect by TB diseases. This is an opportunist disease and attack on a person when is immunity power is weak. The speakers stressed upon the participants to follow health and hygienic principles and must be cleanliness to stop TB from spreading.
15 children died in pneumonia Breakthrough at Khoth area of Torkho.
CHITRAL: Some 15 children were died at Khoth area of Tehsil Torkho. According to District Health Officer Dr. Israrullah some 15 children were died within February and March due to Pneumonia. Hence independent sources told this scribe that epidemic of pneumonia spread at Khot area rapidly and it took lives of 15 children. Dr. Israrullah said that I visited the area but there is a Basic Health Unit (BHU) under KPHC (Khyber Pahtonkhwa Health Care) but Doctor Shah Alam of BHU Khot was absent from duty and he directed to KPHC to write repot against the doctor why he was absent from duty.
A local person of Khot said that there is no health facility from government health department in the area but only NGO working there while a RHC at Shahgram has been handed over to AKHH under public private partnership.
