The students of a primary school in Assam are in shock after they saw their teacher stabbed to death inside the classroom by her jilted lover. Police and witnesses said the incident took place on Friday in the eastern town of Nagaon, about 130 km from Guwahati.
Taslima Begum, 25, was teaching when a man entered the classroom and chatted with her for some time before whipping out a dagger and piercing it into her chest, police officer Mr M. Rahman said. The teacher was declared dead at a hospital in Nagaon.
The 30-odd students screamed on seeing the teacher collapse. "Pedestrians and shop owners heard the screams and caught hold of the man, the dagger still in his hand," the official said. The assailant, Zehirul, was about 30 years of age. "He told us that he killed Taslima because she refused to marry him," the official said
