Telensa Appoints Keith Day as Director of Marketing to Support Next Wave of IoT Growth

Telensa, which provides end-to-end solutions to turn the Internet of Things (IoT) into real-world revenue streams, has appointed Keith Day to lead its marketing as the company experiences a surge in demand for its Smart Cities IoT solutions. Keith has an outstanding record of success in translating technology innovation into real-world market understanding and presence. He recently led marketing for UK-based small cell pioneer Ubiquisys, which was acquired in 2013 for $310M by Cisco. Subsequently he led marketing for Cisco’s Service Provider Mobility business worldwide.

Telensa has now deployed its Ultra Narrow Band (UNB) long-range, low-power wide-area (LPWA) radio technology in 9 million devices, most recently with the rollout of a Smart City system in Asia. The technology is deployed in 30 countries around the world including the US, UK, Brazil, Australia, China and Russia, enabling a range of applications such as smart lighting, smart parking and device tracking.

The company’s technology is proven in huge scale deployments with many live networks each serving tens or hundreds of thousands of devices. As well as proven scalability, Telensa’s technology provides the longest battery life in the market with up to a year from a single coin sized battery, over 20 times longer than the nearest competitor.

“I’m delighted to be joining a great team at Telensa at a very important moment in the growth of IoT, especially for Smart Cities,” said Keith Day. “In a market that’s often short on practical details, Telensa is deploying real solutions at massive scale, and in doing so has laid down a marker for the practical evolution of IoT.”

“We’re delighted to welcome someone of Keith’s calibre to join the Telensa team, especially at such a key moment in the growth of IoT,” said Will Gibson, CEO of Telensa. “We’re building the future of IoT, and our deployment momentum in smart lighting and smart parking shows that we are on the right track.”

Telensa also announced this week that it is a founding board member of the Wireless IoT Forum alongside BT, Cisco, Accenture, Arkessa, and WSN. Further details are available at www.wiotf.org
