If you have an interest in cheering on Team USA or otherwise enjoy watching elite athletes compete, but don’t have enough time or money for an overseas summer vacation this year, then you are in luck. The top amateur athletes aren’t sitting around and waiting for the next OIympics. Instead, many are preparing for international competitions being held in July in the U.S. or Canada. Below are ten that you could attend for the Olympic sports of table tennis, canoe/kayak, badminton, synchronized swimming and the summer version of biathlon, as well as the non-Olympic sports of inline hockey and softball. The amusement parks, beaches, and shops will still be there afterwards, and you might even be inspired to pick up a new sport.
