Indian batting star Sachin Tendulkar has owned one more important record in the world of cricket here today. He has created a new world record for scoring the most runs in Test cricket on the first day of the second Test match against Australia on Friday.
He reached this important milestone when he took three runs just after tea break.
Tendulkar performed this feat when he reached the aggregate of 11,955 runs in his 152nd Test and 247th innings by eclipsing the previous record created by Brian Lara of the West Indies.
Lara made 11,953 runs in 131 Test matches before retiring from cricket in 2006.
Sachin Tendulkar has already set the record for making the most runs in One-day International cricket. Thus, he has a unique honour of holding records of scoring the most runs in both forms of cricket.
Besides, he holds records of scoring the most number of hundreds in Test as well as in ODI cricket. He has so far made 39 Test and 43 ODI hundreds.
