Terrorists’ Concentrations Increasing Along IB in J&K

Concerned over reports of increasing number of armed militants across Indo-Pak border to cross-over to the Indian side, Army’s top commanders have called a meeting in Jammu on Tuesday to review and chalk out a fresh strategy to foil their attempts.
"There are reports of mounting terrorists concentration across the International Border in launching pads awaiting to cross over to Jammu and Kashmir," Defence Spokesman, Lt Col S D Goswami said.
Owing to the reports, the top army commanders have converged in Jammu to review and chalk out fresh strategy with field commanders to undertake urgent measures to counter any infiltration bid by them, he said.
In this connection, Lt Gen Tej Saproo, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Command, who arrived in Jammu on a two day official visit to assess the security situation of the region, held detailed discussions with Field Commanders.
Gen Saproo along with Lt Gen Vinay Sharma, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Yole based Rising Star Corps, and Major General D L Chowdhary, GOC, 26 Infantry division, also interacted with senior military, para military and police officers and discussed measures to be adopted to thwart the evil designs of the terrorists, he said.
The heavy concentration of militants in launching pads has also been picked by the Battlefield Surveillance Radars (BFSR) and Hand-held Thermal Imagers (HHTI) during the one week after three armed militants infiltrated via Kana Chak Border on August 26.
