Committee detailed for preparation to celebrate thanks giving day and festival of Lawari Rail tunnel.
CHITRAL: A high level meeting was held here at Governor cottage under the chair of District Nazim Chitral Haji Maghfirat Shah. The meeting was participated by leaders of all political and religious leaders, representatives of Non Government Organizations. Civil societies and different organizations like trade union, driver union etc. The stakeholders discussed different views regarding preparation for celebration of thanks giving day and festival on completion of Lawari Rail tunnel. The stockholders proposed to appreciate efforts of all those who plaid role in construction of Lawari tunnel. A committee was also detailed under the chair of Tehsil Nazim Chitral Sartaj Ahmad Khan to arrange and preparation for celebrating thanks giving day. The stakeholders also proposed for offering Nawafal Shukrana in different Mosques and public places and to go to tunnel in a procession. They stressed upon all the members to celebrate this thanks giving day and festival as well as distribution of free food among the poor people irrespectively to their political affiliation.
The participants also expressed their concern over of demographic changes after completion of Lawari tunnel like impacting on our language, culture and tradition. They suggested to celebrate this day at Sub Division Mastuj and Chitral separately as well as at each Tehsil and union council and to aware the people regarding completion of tunnel and to offer thanks giving prayers at houses. They stressed upon all stakeholders to celebrate this festival as a nation and to not politicize it. Some participants also opposed of gazette holiday and stressed on hardworking for development of Chitral. AKHS offered for providing helicopter service for VVIP arrival and movement. They also urged on proper documentation and preparation of a book on post and pro Lawari scenario and to mention names of all heroes whose efforts success this long awaited demand of Chitral people. They said that after completion of Lawari tunnel more opportunities of development will be available at Chitral and we can develop more rapidly. The stake holders said that this a moment of rich pleasure for the people of Chitral because thousands of Chitral people have been died over the top of Lawari pass while they trying to cross it by feet in winter season while it closed due to heavy snowfall. At least one member from all parties and civil societies would be merged in celebration committee.
It is worth to mention here that Lawri pass is the only land route connecting Chitral with other parts of the country and it blocking for all type of vehicular traffic in winter season due to heavy snowfall on Lawari pass. After completion of this tunnel Chitral will get all weather land route without any disturbing.
Meanwhile Chitral received heavy jolt of earthquake and people came out from their house in great fear hence no human or property loss reported until filling of this report.
