Satan has been the subject of much speculation in our time. But who or what exactly is he? Satan (Hebrew: שָּׂטָן satan, “adversary,”) is a term, also the name of a figure appearing in the texts of the Abrahamic religions (Torah) who brings evil and temptation, and is known as the deceiver that leads humanity astray.
The term is often applied to “an angel” who fell out of favor with God, seducing humanity into the ways of sin, and who now rules over the fallen world.
In heaven there is war between the angels and the dragon.
“And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought the dragon. The dragon and his angels fought back, but they were defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. The great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world – he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown out with him.” Revelation 12:7-9
Without a doubt the single greatest enemy of mankind is Satan.
Satan (aka: The Devil) is the father of lies, the prince of this world. The author and originator of all evil in the universe. Satan wages war against us and without controversy he is public enemy #1.
