The Akasha And Your Life

Akasha is a Sanskrit word meaning “boundless space,” and the Akashic records relate  to a storehouse of information about each individual’s deeds on this earth.

Author, Kevin  Todeshi (1998)  notes that information about the Akashic records can be found in folkore, and the Old and New Testaments.    The Phonecians, Babylonians, Arabs,  and Hebrews  all believed in the existence of these celestial tablets.

Edgar Cayce, also known as “the sleeping prophet” is  said to have had the ability to  access  the Akashic records, and taught that their impact was so powerful, they served to offer insight into the nature of our selves and the universe.

Although Cayce understood the Akashic records not to be physical in nature, he affirmed it was possible to be attuned to the information contained within.  According to Todeshi (1998), Cayce explained how the Akashic records were written and function, further clarified how an individual could gain insight into past lives from them.

Cayce postulated that any action, thought, desire, or deed created a vibration. Todeshi noted the vibration produced what  Cayce termed a “mark” on the visage of space and time.  The “mark” also identified the individual responsible for the action.

Cayce taught that the influence from one’s past lives provided a framework of potentials  and probabilities for a soul. (Todeshi 1998).

For Cayce, what the soul had been engaged in  a previous life was important information, but more important, was the manner in
which the soul handled the challenges and opportunities in the present life.

Todeshi’s material serves to elaborate on how accessing past life information as Cayce did, can enlighten the individual and further shed light on how each individual can better handle events in the present.

 The role of hypnosis:

In like manner, individuals can use past life information gathered in Alpha states,  to heal  their present emotional traumas.

Dr. Michael Newton claims to have been a skeptic by nature.   A counselor and hypnotherapist, he specialized in behavior modification for the treatment of psychological  disorders (Newton 2003).   He at first felt a resistance to requests  from his clients for past life  regressions as he  was more inclined towards traditional forms of  therapy.

At one point, he did  work with a client who complained of chronic pain in his right side. Dr. Newton affirmed one of  the tools of hypnotherapy to manage pain is to instruct the subject to make the pain worse so they can learn to lessen the aching, hence acquiring  more control over it.

According to Newton, his subject used the imagery of being stabbed to relive his  torment.  Newton explored the origins  of the subject’s imagery, and was able to discover that the subject’s former life was that of a World War I soldier killed by a bayonet in France, and hence was able to remove the pain altogether.

As Newton’s work progressed, he found he could move  his subjects further back in time.

Newton wrote: “However, it did not take long before I realized
our deep-seated memories offer a set of past experiences which are too real and connected to be ignored.  I came to appreciate just how therapeutically important the link is between the bodies and events of our former lives and who we are today. ( Newton, 2003 p. 69).

Newton’s realization serves to underscore the value of past life regression in understanding how events in our past lives influence the present in outstanding ways.  Newton reported that his patients find the  spirit world involved an important extension of  past life
regression. (Newton, 2003)

He affirmed  that none of the books he had read about past life regression clarified our lives as souls or how to properly access the spiritual recollections of persons he worked with, hence he undertook the research himself.

Later, with practice he became more adept at entering the spirit world via his patients  while they were under hypnosis.  This experience was meaningful as Newton reported that  finding their place in the spirit world was more important  than simply recounting their
former lives on this planet. ( Newton 2003).

One of the added benefits of undergoing a  past life  regression is gaining meaningful insight once connected to the world of spirit.

What was even more interesting was that Newton felt convinced what  his patients  reported was truthful information, and he noted that when subjects were placed in a trance state,

Their  brain waves slow from beta wake state and continue to change vibration down Past the meditative alpha stage into various levels within the Theta range which is hypnosis.

“When we sleep we go to the final Delta state where messages from the brain are Dropped into the subconscious  and mental aspect through dreams. In Theta, however, the Conscious mind is not unconscious, so  we are able to receive as well as send messages with All memory channels open.” (Newton 2003, p. 94).

Newton noted once subjects were In hypnosis they experienced seeing pictures and hearing dialogue in their unconscious Minds as literal information.  As such when asked questions, it appears they cannot lie, But many may still misinterpret information.

This is a confirmation that the individual Knows inwardly they have lived other lives, and they access this information more readily in a meditative state and via deep hypnosis.  The soul because of its non-physical  and  ethereal nature is difficult to define, yet soul energy can be understood in a spiritual context  and individuals can appreciate the  originality of their soul, rather than see it as a mystery.

“ We  cannot define the soul in a physical way because to do so would establish limits on something that seems to have none. I see the soul as intelligent light energy. This energy  appears to function as vibrational waves similar to electromagnetic force but without the  limitations of charged particles of matter. Soul energy does not appear to be uniform. Like a  fingerprint, each soul has a unique identity in its formation, composition and vibrational  distribution. I am able to discern soul properties of development by color tones, yet none of this  defines what the soul is as an entity.”   (Newton 2009).

Another past life regressionist who pre-dated  Dr. Newton, and conducted hundreds of regressions, Dolores Canon said she developed a technique whereby the subject was  regressed to deeper levels of the mind, or a sonambulist state. It is here, Canon reported the Universal Mind can be readily accessed.
