The Basic Rights of the Consumers

 Consumers and customers have certain basic rights in purchasing. These are the rights to be informed, the right to choose, the right to safety, the right to be heard and the right to a clean environment.

All customers have the right to be informed with regards to the products that are available particularly in the market place. With this the customers can be able to make his or her choice what products he/she should choose according to what he/she wants and what he/she needs. This information is usually available in the labels found in every commodity. Labels inform us about the product, its brand its ingredients, the date of the manufacturing, the company who made the product, the total weight of the product as well as the date of expiration and others.

The customers have also the right to choose. Customers can be able to access the products and services and make choices from the varieties of these products and services. With this any customer can be able to select the product or services that he/she wants to acquire.

Customers have the right to safety. It is the customers right to be protected from any possible hazardous elements in the market place that could endanger the customer’s health or life. Business establishments also have the responsibilities ii providing safety to their customers in their area of jurisdiction.

Another is the right to be heard. Every customer has the right to be heard especially in the times of complains against any products or services from different establishments. One form of these is the availability of suggestion boxes that can be seen in some establishment such as in the restaurants, banks, cinema houses and offices.

The use of suggestion boxes will enable the customer to voice out their comments, reactions, complains or suggestion. This will give way for any establishments to developed their services or products better. This could be beneficial on both customers and business establishment considering that this process will serve as a form communication for both parties.

The customers have also the right to a clean environment. Places like markets and similar establishment is entitled to provide a clean environment as well as sanitation facilities. A clean environment is a place in which there is no obstruction or hazardous elements to the people’s health. Places where there are presence of smoke, pollutants, garbage, toxic materials and the like are considered as health hazardous places.
