The remaining mission schools in Malaysia still have the cross adorned on it’s walls or gates. Many of such schools can be found in the state of Sarawak and Sabah.
They have names like the Sacred Heart school, St Elizabeth secondary school, St Anne, St Joseph or anglican Primary School.
It is here that the subject like Bible Study can be studied but as an elective subject. There are schools that have pastors as teachers. Their student, above all, came from the various communities.
It is here too that Islamic study are taught. One may wonder, how is it possible. Yes, it is possible and nobody ever quarrel over it. The people accepted it with all their heart.
Speaking to the Press, Datuk Chua Soi Lek, told a seminar on religious tolerance in Johore," the existence of the cross is the proof that religious tolerance really is alive in this country.."
Speaking further, he denied what the leaders of Hindraf have said about Malaysia being a country where religious intolerance exists.
