Ashok Khajuria was speaking on the Shaheedi Divas (Martyrs Day) of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Raj Guru organized a function at Ram Lila Maidan, Panjtirthi, to pay tributes to the trimurti of these three youth who sacrificed their lives for the cause of motherland. The BJP leaders under its president Rajesh Gupta and a number of prominent residents of the area garlanded the portraits of this trimurti and remembered their contribution towards inducing patriotic feelings among the youth.
On the occasion Ashok Khajuria said they set an example of love and dedication towards the nation. These great heroes jumped into the freedom struggle at an age when they should have been in schools and play grounds. They did not tolerate the slavery of British and took the pledge to throw them out. They were of the view that the freedom can not be achieved in a peaceful way and they took lead by sacrificing their lives to prove what they said.
BJP State Secretary Yudhvir Sethi, on this occasion, said that the real tribute to the martyrs is always to learn from their lives and spread their ideas and principles among the masses with a motive to make them aware about the importance of being a citizenship of Independent nation.
District President Rajesh Gupta said that the youth of today is fast getting addicted to various social evils and has forgotten their duty towards the nation. He said the race to compete with the western culture has resulted into their deviation from the Indian culture and the supreme sacrifices of hundreds of people who got martyrdom in their youth for a noble cause. He asked the youth to take pledge to work towards strengthening the nationalist forces in Jammu and Kashmir to ensure that it is completed integration with rest of India.
Purnima Sharma, Balbir Ram, Vikram Randhawa, Jaideep Sharma, Rakesh Mishra, Karan Singh, Sunil Dogra, Gulshan Mahajan, Dinesh Gupta, Balwan Singh, Dalip Gupta, Sanjay Mahajan, Karunesh Gupta, Pardeep Sharma, Lalit Sharma, Shashi Sapolia, Pardeep Lengeh, Arun Sethi, Rajinder Kumar, Kuldeep Kandhari, Vijay Mehra, Ram Prasad, Tarsem Jain, Bal Krishan Bhatti, Sanjay Mehra, Bua Dass Khajuria, Naresh Abrol and Ravi Raina were prominent among others who also paid their floral tributes.
It may be mentioned here that Bhagat Singh was one of the most prominent freedom fighters of
Rajguru was the accomplice of Bhagat singh and Sukhdev in killing a British police officer in Ferozpur in 1928 in order to take revenge for the death of veteran leader Lala Lajpat Rai due to excessive police beating. Sukhdev also played a major role in the killing. This is the reason why all three of them were convicted of the crime and hanged on March 23, 1931.
