The Indonesian National Police through its Cyber Crime Unit are calling on the country’s hackers to help and give a hand in the fight against terrorism. The National Police challenge all Indonesian Hackers to reveal the true creator of the mediaislam-bushro.blogspot.com; a blog that claimed the Jakarta Bombings attacks, and confessed that is speak on behalf of Noordin M. Top, the wanted man who responsible for several Bombings in Indonesia, including Bali Bombings in 2002.
National Police spokesman, Inspector General Nanan Sukarna, at the Bhayangkara Field, Jakarta, Friday, July 31, said that the police’s Cyber Crime unit was trying to find out who created the blog site that claimed to speak on behalf of fugitive terrorist Noordin M Top, who suspected was the mastermind for suicide bombings at the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels on July 17.
Nanan admitted that the National Police still did not know who was behind the blog statement and challenged all Indonesian Hackers to find the true mastermind behind the blog statement.
“Well there are so many smart hackers in the country, why don’t they prove their skills by helping the police to defend the state and the nation,” he challenged. “Find the information, give the information. Then they will be caught soon enough.”
The statement issued on the blog, in Arabic and Indonesian, named Abu Muawwidz Nur Din bin Muhammad Top as the emir, or leader, of the Tandzim Al Qo’idah Indonesia group, which it said was behind the bombings.
It claimed that the bomb attacks were part of a jihad and had targeted a meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) at the Marriott.
Meanwhile it also claimed that the suicide bombings at the Ritz ere aimed to cancel the visit of the English football team, Manchester United.
Nanan said that since a 2002 an Anti-terrorism Law was issued, a total of 428 terrorist suspects, both Indonesian and foreign, had been arrested across the country.
He also said that some of the terrorists are still in custody and three of them were already executed last year. Imam Samudera and brothers Ali Ghufron and Amrozi, were the three of the executed; who shot to death at the Nusakambangan Island prison in November last year for their roles in the 2002 Bali bombings.
Moreover, Nanan also hope that not only the police who participated in handling the issue of terrorism, but also every citizen, including Hackers.
"Let’s fight terrorism together," said Nanan.
