The lies that dupe the Filipino people

Before she left for Malaysia last August 30, 2007, President Gloria Arroyo recited her usual semantic of lies in a press conference held in her comfort zone. Her usual self comes to light when she bragged that the country’s economy achieved the unprecedented growth of 7.5% – the highest in 20 years. According to the President, her economic strategy jibes with the development her administration has done. But the unbelievable claim was questioned by a lady reporter who asked Mrs. Arroyo why the country is still mired in economic hardship and underdevelopment. Mrs. Arroyo slightly angered by the question, answered with sarcastic voice and enumerated all the projects that she said were implemented countrywide. The reality is far from the truth because the Philippines is still suffering from underdevelopment. Infrastructures like school buildings, farm to market roads, irrigation canals, bridges, housing and other structures that encourage tourism are limited or do not even exist. These things are just part of the issues that the president wants to brag about because she is good in lying to the Filipino people.
