Then when she joined a nearby school as a teacher there’s some sort of apprehension
Protest in her in-law family and numerous taunts and occasional nasty comments.
But today everything is alright and changing for better for her. Indian rural society is currently undergoing a revolutionary change. The interest and ambition to have a good education and better life style is helping to change and transform the political, social and economical idealism as well as cultural values of the rural women. The growing industrialization is another factor effecting greater change in the life style of rural people here.
The social status of rural women has so far been suffering into contradictory situations. At the one hand these women are looked down upon and at the other they’re worshipped and regarded as Goddess. The economical condition of rural women is not entirely satisfactory; they’re exploited lot more, in comparison to male laborers. Most of the women make their entry in economical sector at very young age as a child lab our and get married at the earliest. The family responsibility and host of other social problem like –illiteracy, blind faith, conventionalism, customs and generally a male-dominated society hinder their progress at physical and mental level. And they’re realizing it!
Those women who’re well educated are more aware and making their niche in the family and society. The upper class women seem more advanced than the backwards and tribal women. In villages which are close to towns and cities, women are found to be more politically conscious than their counterparts in far flung remotely located villages. Earlier the rural women were generally not allowed to work outside but those living in villages which‘re close to town and city are being allowed to work now. Not only this, the social and family status of these working women seen with very high regard.
