The Pukhtoonkhwa Senior Minister and Parliamentary Leader of ANP
Bashir Ahmad Bilour has asked the local government officers and
employees to come out of their luxury offices for practical public
service and improve the performance to ensure provision of better
municipal facilities to the citizens while the provincial government
will also take necessary steps for their proper training in this
regard.
    He was addressing as chief guest at the foundation laying ceremony of
local government school at Hayatabad Peshawar. The 5- storey building
of the training academy spreading on 10 kanals land will be completed
in two years with the cost of
Rs. 125 million wherein the local council board will provide Rs. 25
million to the Peshawar Development Authority for the purpose rest of
the expenditures would be borne by the provincial government. Bashir
Bilour said that such a training academy at provincial metropolis for
the local government employees and LG representatives was in fact need
of the hour that must be focused much earlier. He said that the local
government department and TMAs directly linked with providing succor
to the masses and its responsibilities increased manifold in this
respect. He said that the ANP government was engaged for overall
development of the province from the very day however, the law and
order situation and financial constraints were hurdle in this way. He
said that durable steps were being taken for improving both these
situations wherein encouraging and positive results were being
expected. He said that the provincial government has formally approach
the federal government for enhancing its financial resources besides
ensuring the transparent and judicious use of available funds.
    The Senior Minister said that the Swat Peace Pact has been
implemented successfully while the people of Malakand would get the
Nizam-e-Adl for quick and cheap justice. Referring to the development
of Peshawar, he said that a number of  mega projects were also being
initiated for beautification of the city that would yield positive
results. He asked the administration of all the four towns of Peshawar
to give full attention on providing better facilities of water supply
and sanitation in the entire city before the forthcoming summer season
so that the Peshawarites did not face problems in this regard. He said
that under passes on all the busy squires of  highways in the city
would be constructed with the start of construction of underpass at
Shabbir Shaheed Chowk at Gulbahar soon that would help in overcoming
the problems of traffic jam and environment pollution. He also
directed the PDA to immediately start work on Green Peshawar Project
as he said this was the most suitable season for tree plantation in
the city while this fact was ignored in the past despite demolishing
of buildings on GT road thus creating enormous problems for the
traffic and general masses presently. He also asked the district
administration to complete the removal of encroachments and ensure
widening of roads on Circular Road besides green belts there.
    The function was also addressed by the Acting Distt:Nazim Haji Umar
Khan, Secretary LG&RD Hifzur Rehman, Secretary LCB Rehmat Ghazi and DG
PDS Qazi Laeeq Ahmad who highlighted salient features of the LG
training academy  besides the municipal facilities being provided to
the people of Peshawar city and Hayatabad.
