The Long Tail ! Amazon, e-Bay, Google (Wired Magazine Editor-in-Chief)

The focus on the Long Tail is when a new product is purchased on Amazon or e-Bay and then sold a number of times by a number of customers to a number of customers using Amazon or e-Bay as the trading platform. This brings the Sellers and Buyers together.<o:p></o:p>

Since this applies to the full range of products sold, the Long Tail will straddle over decades, before customers stop selling or buying or they are replaced by collectors who extend it to the market limits when there are no collectors left.<o:p></o:p>

If Stamps, Coins and Magazines are examples of the length of the Long Tail it might be limited by quality, due to wear and tear or demand by collectors.<o:p></o:p>

Google on the other hand enables buyers to find and view their desired products and to do research based on the price of similar products on the one hand and on the other hand enable sellers to use Adwords and Froogle, etc to doing focused selling.<o:p></o:p>

This can also be done at e-bay and Amazon using similar methods and tools and be driven by their expanding market and wider range of products being sold and re-sold.<o:p></o:p>
