Peshawar: After Pakistani security forces on Thursday entered Immam Dheri, the stronghold of militant commander Maulana Fazlullah, and took control of the area to restore security for the imminent general election under emergency rule that is launched to legalize President Musharraf’s steps, the drama ended as the militants reportedly ‘fled to an unknown location.’
About three hundred militants, civilians and security forces were killed in the one month long tension which forced the poor people to close shut their business, close their educational institutions and leave the area.
On Thursday security forces took control of all the areas where the militants were active, allowing the residents to return to their homes but they still fear that the militants may come back as many believe the militants have support of intelligence agencies which use them for certain purposes.
According to reports more than 1200 schools and educational institutions were closed during the tension and thousands of people had fled their homes. Curfew is still imposed in the district and people face many problems doing their jobs.
On the other hand, the militants have claimed that they had changed their strategy and now they will launch suicide attacks against security forces.
