The two boys, one 15-year-old and 14-year-old, disappeared from one of Tokelau’s atolls on October 5th. The Tokelau Islands consist of 3 small atolls about half-way between New Zealand and Hawaii.
Despite an exhaustive search by the New Zealand Air Force, the teenagers had remained unaccounted for until Wednesday, when a fishing vessel spotted the boys’ boat off the coast of Fiji, about 1,300 kilometers from Tokelau.
Thwn the teenagers are thought to have been drifting since their boat’s motor failed, and have survived by eating fish and a seagull they managed to catch and by drinking rainwater.
On Friday, a Fijian navy vessel brought those boys to a port in Fiji for medical treatment. They were suffering from severe dehydration and too weak to disembark by themselves.
On the otherside, boy’s families had already held funeral services for the boys after the search failed to find them.
Really the miracle comes in light.
