Apple has unveiled the new MacBook Air. The MacBook Air is an ultra thin and lightweight notebook with a widescreen display. The price tag is high though and we have to wonder if it is really worth the $1700.00 price tag. Apple has always been a little pricier than PC, but almost everyone that owns one loves it and would purchase another. This is definitely a must have for any Mac enthusiast, but what about those that are not so familiar with the Mac?
Apple has long been considered the top of the line in computer technology and over the years it has built its own niche’ market of loyal Mac fans. However, despite Apple’s high priced machines, they have recently been grabbing a larger share of the market and even though it does not compare with Microsoft’s market share, it is still growing.
Just a few years ago, the argument for buying a Mac was security and the graphics, which were much better than Windows based PCs. However, when Microsoft came out with the XP Operating System, that argument weakened a bit, but it did not disappear all together. Many graphics designers continue to depend on the Mac as their computer of choice in their work, but Microsoft has closed that gap.
The MacBook Air has everything that you would expect to find in a Windows based PC notebook. This notebook features Dual Core Intel processors with 2 gigabytes of memory, which is very nice and will definitely perform at breakneck speeds. The most impressive feature of this notebook it how thin it is. All together, it is about ¾ of an inch thick.
One of the nice features included with the MacBook Air is the “Remote Disk” feature. “Remote Disk” allow you to access the CD or DVD of any Mac or Windows based PC. This gives the user two drives and is great for copying disk on the fly. Nevertheless, this laptop does come equipped with a 64-Gigabyte hard drive, which will give you lots of space to hold all of your programs and files.
The MacBook Air is an expensive notebook, but in truth, there are many Windows based notebooks that are just as costly. In my opinion, Mac has made a name for itself not by selling cheap computers, but by building reliable and secure computers. This is an important thing to consider when you decide to invest in a laptop and you simply cannot go wrong with Mac. In closing, I would have to say that the MacBook Air is definitely worth the price and I would highly recommend purchasing one.
