Barack Obama’s upset of Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) in the Iowa Democratic caucus has upset the former First Lady’s plans to smoothly ease into her party’s nomination.
Like Dr. Ron Paul, the Republican Congressman from Texas, Senator Obama has caught the imagination of young people and others who felt turned off by the political system.
Another recent election upset was Kenya’s disputed results where President Mwai Kibaki sought another term over the opposition of challenger Raila Odinga. Appalling scenes have resulted as Odinga’s supporters have contested the result, with the protests transformed into intertribal violence.
Coincidentally, Barack Obama’s father was from Kenya and he still has relatives there. His visit there after election to the US Senate from the State of Illinois attracted great attention.
I can just picture the campaign ads "Obama For President" paid for by Hillary Clinton– so long as it is President of Kenya in question.
