Paul Ryan has the eyes of a cold-blooded killer. He’s a good liar, but not a gifted liar like his boss, Mitt. (America likes a gleeful con man. It gives them hope.) Ryan lies, but with a hangdog look, as if his conscience is eating at him.
Did he study with Jesuits? He’s constantly making extremely medieval distinctions: between the "timeline" for leaving Afghanistan and the "decision" to leave Afghanistan, between "vouchers" and "a voluntary choice," between "increasing" military spending and "not cutting" it. There’s no problem Ryan can’t define his way out of. I suppose that’s why he’s considered an "intellectual" in the Republican Party.
But our nation distrusts intellectuals. They seem to be hiding something (unlike con artists, who wink at you as they fleece you).
