ABC News has reported an interesting find about Anderson Cooper, 46, who does not want to receive a dime of inheritance from his wealthy mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, whenever he’s entitled to receive it. Yes, his family has money and his Mother inherited a fortune before she made her own millions. It’s been reported Cooper will not receive an inheritance.
Anderson Cooper has been one of my favorite news reporters for many years and I find his values to be of the highest standards. He has values that he sticks to constantly and he doesn’t renege on them either. He is just a down-to-earth wonderful person in my opinion.
Cooper has said, “My mom’s made it clear to me that there’s no trust fund. There’s none of that,” he stated in a conversation with Howard Stern; and saying, “And I don’t believe in inheriting money.”
He went on to state that inherited money is an “initiative sucker” and a “curse.” He is thankful to his mother for giving him an incentive to work. He also commented, “Who’s inherited a lot of money and has gone on to do things in their own life;” and continuing, “From the time I was growing up, if I felt there was a pot of gold waiting for me, I don’t believe I would have been so motivated?”
Cooper called his mother, “The coolest person I know;” and he also praised her for implanting within him a great work ethic. And, he continued to say if he should ever become a father someday, he would likely follow in her footsteps.
“I’d want them to start working early in life and start to have a sense of responsibility; and if I felt like they had a good sense of responsibility, maybe I’d try to leave some money…I don’t know.”
I’m sure Cooper’s mother is proud of the fine man she has raised and the values she instilled in him.
