Clearly the Republicans have been reading Judges 16, the story of Samson, a sort of Biblical superhero who was seduced by the wily Delilah. She discovered that his strength emerged from his hair, had his seven braids shaved, and turned Samson over to the Philistines, who gouged out his eyes. At a grand pagan sacrificial ritual, the mighty Israelite stood between two central pillars of the temple:
“And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein.”
The GOP is also bringing the House down, to revenge themselves on their oppressors. Like Samson, they are blind, and willing to murder themselves to achieve revenge:
“And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged…”
