The Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico Finds New Donations From foodtweeks(TM) App

1888PressRelease – Mobile App Contributes Calories to Food Banks in Return for Eating Lower Calorie Suggestions.

Stamford-Norwalk, CT – foodtweeks™, a free app that combines weight management with feeding the hungry, today announced that the Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM has joined the ranks of foodtweeks™-affiliated food banks.

In order for the app to contribute calories to food banks, a foodtweeks™ user must report “tweeking” (trimming calories from their food), and the Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico will receive donations from foodtweeks™. These calorie donations enable the food bank to distribute an equal number of nutritious calories to hungry families, and it all comes at no cost to the app user.

By simply posting a “tweek” on Facebook or Twitter, users can double or triple each donation for the simple change they make to their foods. foodtweeks™ makes it possible for weight-conscious consumers to be “heroes” who serve their communities by feeding the hungry. Managing calories from their favorite foods has never been as easy, enjoyable or mobile as it is now.

“We are excited about this partnership with foodtweeks™,” Melody Wattenbarger, President and CEO of Roadrunner Food Bank said.

“foodtweeks™ gives our supporters a new and easy way to contribute to the Food Bank. Not only will users be improving their own health by making small tweeks to their diet, they will be providing nutritious food for our hungry neighbors. It’s a win-win for Roadrunner Food Bank and our community.”

As a food bank that provides food assistance to almost 40,000 people on a weekly basis, Roadrunner Food Bank needs support from its community. Through foodtweeks™, the community can help raise awareness, and provide food to those people struggling to get enough to eat.

“foodtweeks™ is proud and excited to support the Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico,” said Elisa Shannon, foodtweeks™ Executive Vice President of Partnership Development. “The Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico is a highly committed and respected organization that provides outstanding service to food-insecure members of our community.”

Redistributing calories from those who wish to be more conscious of their intake to families in need is an essential component to the foodtweeks™ unique approach to weight management. Users simply tell the app what food they are thinking of buying, eating or preparing. The app instantly displays images of suggested “tweeks” that trim enough calories to make a positive difference – but not in a way that changes the taste or leaves users hungry.

To effectively create the large bank of suggestions, foodtweeks™ maintains a crowdsourced picture database of more than 44,000 small changes that show users how to “tweek” everything from a particular brand of cheeseburger at a national restaurant chain to grocery store purchases, and homemade dishes of every kind.

foodtweeks™ is rapidly expanding its partner-base to food banks all across the nation, with more joining each week, said Ms. Shannon, herself a former food bank executive. Food banks that wish to affiliate with foodtweeks™ may contact Ms. Shannon by email at elisa ( @ ) foodtweeks dot com dot

Jay Walker, the inventor of foodtweeks™, is also the chairman of Patent Properties and curator of TEDMED, the health and medicine edition of the famous TED conference. A noted entrepreneur, Mr. Walker has founded three companies that serve more than 50 million customers. He is best known as the creator of Priceline, which brought a new level of value to the travel industry.
